1 lb. spaghetti (or any other shaped pasta you have on hand)
10.75 oz. can Campbell’s® Condensed Tomato Soup
10.75 oz. can water
1 small onion finely chopped
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Cook pasta according to package directions and set aside. In a saucepan, sauté onions in olive oil until caramelized. Add soup, water, garlic, and Italian seasonings. Stir until fully combined. Reduce heat to a simmer and cover with the lid. Cook sauce for an additional 10 minutes. Place cooked pasta in a serving dish and add the sauce.
- Serve with parmesan cheese
- Use fresh basil instead of Italian seasonings for a sweeter sauce.
This is my mother’s recipe. Our pantry was bare. Mom had a taste for spaghetti, but we did not have any tomato sauce or paste so she improvised with tomato soup. The result was American Spaghetti and it was an instant family favorite.
