1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 lb. green beans (fresh or frozen)
1 shallot, finely chopped
3 tablespoons light soy sauce
Pinch brown sugar
Steam beans until they are cooked but still crisp (about 10 minutes for fresh, fewer for frozen.) Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sautee shallot in oil until caramelized (about 5 minutes). Then add green beans and soy sauce. Keep moving so it doesn’t burn and until beans are heated through (about 10 minutes). Add a pinch of brown sugar before removing it from heat.
